The woman's 400mh heats are the same day as the mixed relay final. Plus, as I said earlier, the athletes won't run the relays prior to their individual events.

She can be picked for the relay pool however we haven't seen the full team listed yet and indications after both the m and w 400m were that the entire 8 person field would be listed for the relay pool which would leave no room for Little. Of course, that happened prior to Little not making the team so it's possible we have some mind changing after the fact.

I guess they try to figure out ways to use all eight finalists in either of the relays. I don't know how many changes can be made between prelims and the final. But in Doha, USA replaced all four runners.

So it could be:

Manson and Anderson in the mixed prelim.
Whitney and Irby in the mixed final.
Jonathas and Ellis in the women's prelim.
Hayes and Felix in the women's final.

Yes the top 6 from the 400m are put in the 4x4 pool and then 7 & 8 are listed for the mixed 4x4 team. As noted, according to the updated World athletics rules Ive see, they will be able to do the same thing as Doha where 4 athletes can be switched between the prelims and finals on the relays in Tokyo.

At these Olympic Games, the USA could field a team with just one specialist 400 runner and stil break or come close to the world record. Whoever they field, they are certain winners . the race for the minor medals between Jamaica and Poland should be interesting

They aren't breaking 3.16.00 in my opinion. None of the flat runners are in sub 49 form and Felix isnt what she use to be. Syd in the best form of her life cant do it all by herself. Think Jamaica gives them a closer run than many people think.

The only way Jamaica is able to put up a serious fight is if they leave out the hurdlers. Jamaica will be able to steal the gold if they don’t field at least McLaughlan on that relay.

Absent injury Mu and McLaughlin will be running and running the fastest legs likely at least mid 48's. However, absent either of them for the US and Jamaica running with the defending 400m bronze medalist who's seemingly running better than ever, and it's a race and not one which is a lock for the US.
