Perhaps not at the World Relays, but at Penn and Drake, the top level college 4x800s can be, and often have been, very exciting

I only remember one that was fairly compelling -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbAYais_QWg

I think a few years later there was another pretty good one at Penn with Andrews vs Wheating on the anchor leg

The 1982 Penn Relays 4x8 was even more compelling. 7 teams under the previous Collegiate Record. All of those 7 teams finished within 4 seconds. Anchors included Marshall (Vill), Gregorek (Gtn), BItok (RIch), Redwine (ark), Hinton (Va), Brown (Pitt), Patrick (Tenn).

The US may not be going this year because we are not listed among the countries that World Athletics says are attending:

I read on Twitter this morning that JAM will now not be attending due to travel 'issues'..? If this is the case, it's a double whammy.

That was 2010. Yes, an exciting race.

A World Relays, without The United States and Jamaica? Well, wake me when it's over.

                          Wise move by both countries...

I was going to call it the Euro Relays but teams from Africa, South America and Asia are all going, so they’ve figured it’s worth the risk. Even Canada!

TTO has pulled out as well.

Australia must be even wiser then, pulling out two weeks back. They are planning an Oceanian relay series with NZL to improve relay qualification chances for Tokyo.
