  • More impressive 2-mile?

Kenny Bekele is after the indoor 2-mile WR. I must admit that I had forgotten how impressive this record is - 8:04.69 by The Emperor. So I sat wondering, is that as impressive as Komen's outdoor 7:58.61? Let's throw this one into the mix - Komen's indoor 3K in 7:24.

Which is the most impressive? In a recent thread some of you have argued that some athletes may run faster indoors because of climate control, proximity to the crowd, etc. Does this apply to Geb's 8:04?

    What do you think?

Here's the 10 fastest 3K/2M performances ever (using 1.08 as the conversion):

    7:20.67 Daniel Komen (Ken) 9/ 1/96
    7:23.09 Hicham El Guerrouj (Mor) 9/ 3/99
    7:23.16+ Komen 7/19/97
    7:24.90i Komen 2/ 6/98
7:25.02 Ali Saïdi Sief (Alg) 8/18/00
    7:25.09 Haile Gebrselassie (Eth) 8/28/98
    7:25.11 Noureddine Morceli (Alg) 8/ 2/94
    7:25.16 Komen 8/10/96

    7:25.54 Gebrselassie (Eth) 8/ 8/98
