The Long Jump is famous for quick progression. 27 in 3 months for MJ, 28' in a year.

And let's not talk about the high jump 😀

It's more likely it would be a player who isn't a great pro with a huge bod, but someone more lean with great hops. Might be someone who was a really good college player, but not necessarily a great pro. It doesn't have to be a household name, just someone good who chose BB or FB and never tried T&F.

NBA players are spoiled goods. They're so used to a two-footed take-off, a proper HJ takeoff with one's shoulder to the bar would bewilder them!!!
Someone more used to lay-ups than dunks would be needed.

Dr. J, Michael Jordan and plenty of others were plenty good at taking off from one foot.

Those guys might have been better long jumpers than high jumpers.

Well Robert Griffin III has run 49.22 in the 400m hurdles while at Baylor

You mean current guys as there have been multiple NFL players who ran some pretty quick 400m's during their time. Rod Jones, Robert Smith, Paul Lankford, James Lofton I think ran some pretty quick 4x400m relay legs. Going back some years there was IHer Nolan Cromwell.

Ollie Matson won the bronze in the 400 meters at 1952 OG

Darrell Green ran 45.9 in the 400

totally un-called for! for that matter, MJ's, 38 year old LeBron and many other likely couldn't reach 20'/

Adoree Jackson ran on the 4x400 for USC as did Devon Allen for Oregon

My assumption is that he's not that ignorant but we'll find out soon.

It will be interesting to see what he does. I've been seeing discussions about who runs a faster 100m, Sha'Carri Richardson or DK Metcalf...
