          Regarding new Oly Q's

Only one new Oly Q on the womens side after Gotzis. And as ZazaS predicted, likely two on the men's side.

Good call nico21 - looks like she will move way up. maybe 16th, on the Road-to-Tokyo after her 4th place finish.

Even if Kunz didn't get the Q here, should could have at least moved up in the rankings with a solid score and lots of place points. Oh well, she's got one last chance at the Trials.

            Warner fouls his first throw!!

            Just 53.25 on second throw!!

            59.46!

Well, better than 53.25 or a foul!!

            Eh

He needs 4:24.59 for 9000 even!

                JT hurt him... it's gonna take a PR to break 9000... needs 4:24.59 (PR = 4:24.73, 2015)...

He hasn’t PRd in the 1500 since 2015 per world Athletics.

                      The javelin killed his chances!
                      But still a great score!
                      Closest to 9000 ever??

Edges Dvorak for 4th all time by a point.

He also relieves Daley Thompson of the Commonwealth Record after over 40 years.

Does this make Warner the favourite going into Tokyo or did he peak too early. 8995 is worthy of a gold medal point total but it will be hard to have lightning strike twice within 8 or so weeks. Held his own in the PV but lost ground in the javelin which seemed sub par for him. I expect he will come down a little in the 100 m, long jump & hurdles (10.20; 8.00 M & 13.5 respectively) but hopefully off set that in the discus, javelin & PV (4.90). Will Mayer be ready? How about the Germans (Kaul & Kazmirek) & Uibo? Tokyo will be fun!

Wow! Fantastic comp by Warner! 32 cm more in the javelin would have given him 9000.

Is there anyone who has better lifetime bests than Warner in each of the 100m, 110H, and LJ? Or a better combo of all 3? Or can even match the three marks that Warner put up this weekend? (Points are according to the WA ranking points; not the decathlon scoring tables.)
Name 100m Pts 110mH Pts LJ Pts Total
                              Damien Warner (lifetime) 10.12 1165 13.27 1202 8.28 1199 3566
                              Warner (Gotzis '21) 10.14 1159 13.36 1185 8.28 1199 3543
                              ?

A handful have him beat in 2 of 3, like Lewis, Streete-Thompson, Lawson, and Burrell in 100/LJ, but WorldAthletics doesn't have 110H performances for any of them.

Terrence Trammell has better 100/110H, but no reported LJ. Grant Holloway (11.24/12.98/8.17) now only beats Warner in the hurdles, although the 100m time listed by WA probably isn't indicative of what he could do now. Previous Dec greats like Eaton, O'Brien, and Thompson have now been passed by Warner in all three events.

Are there any women who have higher point totals across the three equivalent events?

More generally, is there anyone in track history who can match Warner's total score across three diverse events? Lewis's 100/200/LJ total is higher, but the 100 and 200 are very similar. Recognizing that looking only at marks biases towards current athletes, can anyone match Warner's all-time rankings in the three events? (462, 116, 152).

Someone like Allen Johnson had the ability but didn’t run the 100 very often. 10.42/12.92/8.14 = 3504... still isn’t bad.

I have to think Grant Holloway would beat Warner if he ever runs a serious 100. He would need just 10.21 to score higher. If we cheat and score his indoor 60, he easily beats Warner.

Keith Talley comes close at 3498 (10.28, 13.31 and 8.25i)
