  • Paavo Nurmi Games CT-Gold Turku Jun 7-8

Seems like this meet is worth its own thread. Maybe no world records, but tons of excellent entries. Live results here https://live.time4results.com/yu/2021/png/ Day 1 starts in an hour.

Mac Wilkins still holds the Finnish all-comers record 70.98m set in 1980 Helsinki World Games.

Very impressive 21s PB in the Steeple for 19yo Claire Palou (FRA) with 9:34.10, a performance that was coming based on her 4:12 1500 speed and a really good 2000SC race recently.

There's very few teenagers outside of East Africa who've run that fast.

As I'm intermittently clicking into the wHT (great field!), I'm wondering how many other Americans are doing the same thing (women's Hammer in Finland; no Americans).
                      1000?
                      100?

                      Anyway

                      1. Kopron 75.40 - 247'
                      2. Tavernier 72.80 - 238'
                      3. Wlodarczyk 72.42 - 237'
                      4. Fiodorow 70.82 - 222'

These ladies have some work to do!

Most American HTers don't travel well, though. Obviously that's not true of DeAnna Price.

Also, these are the conditions that the HTers had to deal with today: https://twitter.com/AnitaWlodarczyk/...96982648016898

But apparently, these are the ideal conditions for the Finnish NR:
