The transition to metric is never going to happen...so get use to it.

Since the students apparently don't care about the sport, who typically comprises the many thousands of fans that attend meets at Hayward Field. Are they primarily out of towners? Local non-students who are track fans? Do Oregon residents just have a greater interest in track than the rest of the country for whatever reason?

Last night I sitting under the roof with the rain coming down with some friends it was like being in a private box. The seats are so comfortable and roomy with plenty of leg room and a spectacular view. And even way up you are so close to the track. It really is unbelievable.

The Eugene crowd has a long history of liking track and also we have the Oregon Track Club.

There were a few out of towners but it was basically a home crowd you could tell when an Oregon kid was introduced.

Not surprising there weren't many out of towners...it was only last week was it known anyone was going to get in.

Tell that to the NCAA and state HS federations.

That has been true for decades....Obviously I'm talking about the general public. And the folks who watch. Posting the field marks in Imperial last night is the way to go.

Anyways we have had enough Imperial vs Metric arguments already....

I'm kinda hybrid-Metric for track, but definitely Imperial for field!

mega-dittos on this; bad things will happen to anybody who perpetuates it here.

is it true that today's Register-Guard ignored the meet completely?

Sure did...today's paper the only stuff on track was a preview of the women's....but zip on last night... not even results.

If you expected to go to breakfast and read the story in the RG ...well good luck....I suspect it will be the same for the Trials. If you haven't been to Eugene since 2018 you will be amazed how far it has fallen.

Is it me or is the Hammer the best filmed event? So close you can feel the hammer whiz past your face.

Ignored the results from yesterday - yes. Ignoring the meet itself - no; there is probably more coverage than most newspapers around the US. The RG is part of the USAToday megapaper so there are definitely constraints from HQ.

Admittedly a shell of it's pre-USAToday-days coverage but better than most folks get. It's not as if anyone here is waiting for the local newspaper for T&F coverage . . .
