I've felt for years that they have way too many entrants/heat/rounds....could easily have limited fields to 24, had 3 heats and a final in a number of events

I remember attending a world Champs where there were 3 rounds in the men's 1500 and, if everyone had equalled their season's best, it would have only needed about 3:42 to make the semis.
