High Jump Injustice at the Olympic Trials?
The Women’s High Jump Results:
1.Vashti Cunningham 6-5
2.Inika McPherson 6-4
3.Nicole Greene 6-4 – set a personal record
4.Rachel McCoy 6-4
The Olympic team will be Vashti, Rachel, and Ty Butts Townsend. These three ladies have made the Olympic standard of 6-5. However, Ty jumped only 5-11 ½ at the trials and failed to make the finals. I’m not sure what year Ty jumped 6-5 it may have been 2019.
Questions:
Who’s making this decision?
If it’s a committee vote - Can the committee enter someone who hasn’t made the Olympic qualifying standard?
With three ladies clearing 6-4 – how does someone who cleared only 5-11 ½ makes this Olympic team?
If you feel this selection process can be improved, please share your recommendations.
