    GER sprinters Lisa Mayer (100 & 4x100) & Lisa Nippgen (4x100) have withdrawn & are flying home tomorrow. Both got injured during training camp. This is especially tough for Mayer who has had numerous injuries and came back to her best this season with an individual and relay spot. As it stands, Gina Luckenkemper was reserve for both events. She has apparently trained well in holding camp and the DLV are deciding whether to let her run the 100, 4x100 or both.
    However, I am somewhat still surprised by this, as she was way down in her last race in June. Unless she has improved dramatically, I would keep her out of the 4x100m, where there are faster women this year, but allow her to run the 100m, where she was one of the few with the QT (from 2019) Note her legal best this season is 11.49 from back in May, which is only the 91st fastest race by a German woman this season.

            AW tweet;

            Taoufik Makhloufi won the gold medal in the 1500m at London 2012 and became a double silver medallist at Rio 2016 in the 800m and 1500m. He's just announced that due to injury he won't be taking part in the Olympics.

                  Dafne Schippers is only running the 200m and 4x100m, and wont start the 100m. This is a good move I think.

                      They didn't just find out today what the timing of the Olympics is. Presumably nobody twisted their arms to go to Tokyo - if they are on the team, it's because they wanted to run.

                              That's what I was thinking, they likely won't even be able to compete in the 4x4 relays now - unless they use their short sprinters, but I don't suppose they can be competitive there.

                              On the same note, Bahrain has withdrawn from the mixed 4x4 following Naser's suspension. The Bahamas would be next in line to compete in that event, but from what I understand, it's too late to make that substitution, which is a shame, since they could be legitimate medal contenders if SMU ran.

                                The startlists are up and there are only 15 teams.
