Re: Sanya Richards is da bomb

Sanya had a lot more at stake here than you guys think. It would have been politically embarassing for her to be passed by the Jamaicans having ditched them last year.

Remember Suzian Reid at the last world champs. She was in a similar position politically and otherwise and lost her composure......and the race.

Re: Sanya Richards is da bomb

I thought it took a lot of guts for Sandra Richards to run her race the way she did. Jerome Young ran his anchor lkeg the exact same way, and he is given accolades for being a cool customer.

Re: Sanya Richards is da bomb

Sandra Richards ran the leadoff leg for Jamaica. Sanya on the other hand ran a good anchor leg for the USA. Funny how in both 4x4 races there were two Jamaican born athletes in the first three on that anchor leg. It would hve been very interesting if they had switched Davian Clarke and Michael Blackwood. Young would have had to run harder to win. There is something about having a relay baton in his hand that turns Davian into an absolute monster

Another incredibly perceptive analysis by Mr. Treadway. I thought she might have taken off too quickly but she held her head together.

At this level, if you're handed
            >the baton with the lead, it's important to not
            >let competitors draw even with you unless your

How about unless your competitors are two of the better 400m runners in the world who happen to outperform you in the open race.

One more thing, from what i understand Sanya split 50.4x, thats her fastest 400m ever, in her life relay or open so she gave it all she had....TWO THUMBS UP..WAY UP!!!

Re: Sanya Richards is da bomb

her PR is 50.58, so theoretically she could have split sub-50 BUT to run 50.4r in the WC 4x4 Final is still DA BOMB!

Re: Sanya Richards is da bomb

I also must strongly disagree with Mr. Treadway. The 400 is all about pacing and running your own race. Young's and Woody's pre-WC careers were full of going out too fast and dying. Richards' ability to run her own race under this pressure was phenomenal. And the "danger" with only one or two opponents is very small. It's not an 800-meter pack.
