Looks like in the 200 m women, there can't be a ETH-Mboma rematch. Top 6 on the list would be in on points, plus Masilingi, leaving 1 lane.
Ties are broken by which athlete has more wins, or who had highest finish.
The number of qualifiers is different for different event groups:
    straightaway races and 800: 8
    200, 400, 400H: 7
    field events: 6
    1500 and up: 10

If an athlete doesn't accept an invitations, they pick next in the ranking.
Here's a link to the rules:
    https://www.diamondleague.com/rules/

BTW, my guess is that Hassan wisely decided against a record attempt, so they dumped the 10. I wonder whether Niyonsaba was mis-quoted or she didn't realize she was barred from the 1500/mile.

    Cheers,
    Alan Shank

If there are no declines then based on 7 entrants, and assuming Masilingi is at least 5th Friday, women's 200 m final is set as Ta Lou, Kambundji, Asher-Smith, Dobbin, Bryant, Jackson, Masilingi
Short of injury, I don't know why anyone would turn down the invitation.

Presumably Thompson is resting herself for a final showdown with SAFP in Zurich...

Ok, so I have just been watching Sha'Carri in the Brussels pre meet press conference, and I must say, she has been delightful. She did (have to) correct the mispronunciation of her name 3 times, but she was sweet, and even though there was confidence re her ability to break the WR, it was confidence, not cockiness.

If she can keep doing this, she will win over more fans.

Oh, Kim Gavaert, who was interviewing, looks fabulous, like she hasn't aged. She did look very nervous asking the questions, but she did relax once Sha'Carri was a good sport.

She needs to stop with that though. It'll soon become very annoying and seen as overly precious.

A very large number of athletes with non-Anglo names have their name mispronounced by foreign interviewers and commentators but we don't hear them picking the interviewer up on it. She needs to let go and realise that she's got an unusual name that isn't pronounced in the obvious manner.

Relating to the mispronunciation of her name, it was great to see that after she corrected Kim (the moderator) right before Kim opened the floor to questions, she double checked the pronunciation and they did a little fist bump.

Thats a small example of enjoyment that came out of it. I don't see the issue with her continuing to correct people.

I think most people, esp. journalists, would rather be corrected than just continue saying it wrong. Like Athing Mu.

I was annoyed by Richardson correcting people, but now I am not. Once she has told people how to pronounce her name, they should get it right. It's only 3 syllables. To be dismissive of someone's name is culturally ignorant.

But maybe she should be more explicit e.g. "it's shaKERRI not sha CARRI" or whatever, rather than just "it's shaCarri" as someone people need to hear the subtle difference more clearly.

add: sorry, not trying to make this a Richardson thread again!

Also add: I'm chuckling that Lilly Kaden (GER) gets a lane in the 200m here. Was no one else on speed dial?

Need a Belgian VPN, but you can rewind to near the beginning, at least.

Allman finishes second with the third best throw, beating The Croatian star. Both lost to Cuban Perez, who is having a good post Tokyo season.

site of the discus (from Wiki):

The Bois de la Cambre (French) or Ter Kamerenbos (Dutch) is an urban public park on the edge of the Sonian Forest in Brussels, Belgium. The park lies in the south of the Brussels-Capital Region,

Correct. I think her and Franno did not expect the 10.6 from Shelly in Lausanne, So it made sense to hold off this 200 and focus on this. What are we expecting in Zurich....10.6 again.
