By virtue of a name change, as I understand it.

From wiki, Foot Locker was a part of Woolworth when it started in 1974. East Bay became a subsidiary of Woolworth when acquired in 1997, In 2001 Woolworth changed its name to Foot Locker.

So . . . Footlocker IS still 'sponsoring' the race!

Wasn't Footlocker once sponsored by Kinney, and went by that name?
So changing from Footlocker to Eastbay should flow as smoothly.

Definitely not a team championship. FL was always an individual event and change in sponsors will not affect that. However I wish they would move it around the country and expand it's appeal.

  • Foot Locker National High School XC Championships is no more

Foot Locker is no longer sponsoring the National High School Cross Country Championships. Eastbay is the new sponsor.

The good news is that (unlike NXN which cancelled their nationals this year) Eastbay is planning to have the regionals and national championship at the usual places and dates.

Right now there are two websites. The old one - https://www.footlockercc.com/ (URL says "footlocker" but the website says "Eastbay")
and the new site which is just a copy of the FootLocker site - http://www.eastbaycrosscountry.com/

Without NXN happening, we should finally get to see most of the top runners race each other. How many years has it been since there was only one national high school cross country championship?

Working...
