8k for the men? How about no.

Have both genders run 10km. Why isn't change.org suggesting that?

because convincing tptb to jump women all the way from 6K to 10K just wouldn't fly?

      (but I agree with you)

Split the difference. Everyone runs 9K, Whole new set of records.

At the World XC championships do men and women run the same distance? If this proposal is to lower the men's distance by 2km and raise the women's distance by 2k ....will not sign! Both should be 10k or don't waste my time!

What difference does it make if they run different distances.

And a petition at change.org.... most of the signers probably know nothing about the sport. What do the women who actually compete think of this.

It is like the nonsense with the heptathlon.....the heptathletes are content but that is irrelevant because it looks 'bad'.

I'd sign it for 8K for both if they also mandated real cross country courses instead of flat racetracks with no barriers. We need hills and streams and downed trees and...

I'd like to hear their reason it wouldn't fly.....and I agree with the fact it wouldn't fly.

The men's distance should not be touched unless it is lengthened.

Those are both from the same meet. Having 8 age-group races beforehand ensures it's extra muddy for the seniors. The English National is held on a rotation between the 3 regions and it tends to get its biggest fields when it's in the Midlands, as it was here, as most of the people in the country can get there in about 3 hours or less.

Great stuff! Of all the elements, it would have been the wind that bothered me most. I hate running in the wind. In Florida, much less in the way of hills and it would have been warmer but the biggest obstacle was in that mud pit where there was a drop which caught a lot of guys off guard, there would have been an alligator in there. Run into that on golf courses here where theres a shallow ditch.
