Only a teeny tiny fraction of SafeSport cases ever result in a public action.

You can understand their loyalty, especially when Neita's just had her best season ever, it isn't surprising she's reluctant to sever ties. But it does make it interesting and I await to see what British Athletics does next. As for Gemili, it might actually do him some good to find a new coach, he's never quite fulfilled his potential under Reider, and has been carrying injuries more often than not.
Re the case, it is well known that Reider was 'dating' Desiree Henry years ago, when she was still 19 and he was 44 (not rumour, fact). Not that has anything to do directly with the allegations per se, but it does show he overstepped the boundaries of what many would feel was acceptable.

(mainly heterosexual) men typically don't see any issue with this. "They're all adults" is the line often used. I disagree.
Unfortunately there has been a history of coaches in the UK 'taking advantage' of their position. I wont name names, but there was a European, very senior person, who did as he pleased, and slept with who he pleased, as well as another coach currently under investigation, who basically shagged an athlete in a cupboard and has been accused by multiple women.

While I don't see the fascination some men have with much younger women myself, if a relationship develops, then so be it. Relationships develop for many reasons and people of all ages make bad decisions regarding relationships all of the time. As long as there is nothing illegal occurring, then those choosing those relationships should be left alone.

It's no different to a doctor-patient relationship, or Lecturer-student relationship. On the whole, I would say it should be frowned upon, professionally, and be treated as sexual misconduct. That's without the age difference.

In NZ, the legal age for consensual sex is 16. And the legal age to provide commercial sexual services is 18.
