    You don't have to be a body-builder, but yes, upper body strength DOES help. Carl Lewis didn't do much weight-lifting, but he WAS strong.

    Anyone else notice how successful Worlds competitors Kim Collins, Jerome Young, even suprising Suetsugu Shingo in the 200m all are not exactly Hercules? Especially compared to Maurice Green, who is looking like a linebacker these days. I wonder if this confirms or rebuts any prevailing theories on the relative importance of upper body strength for sprinters, especially long sprinters? Any thoughts from those of you who know more about the physiology of sprinting?
