Rainy conditions at Nathan today didn't stop Torrie Lewis from impressing again, albeit with a strong wind at her back.


Kiwi Zoe Hobbs clocked a NZL record of 11.21 for 100m (& 11.14w) today so she could provide decent competition for our Aussie girls later in the season. Iiaan Whelpton with 10.19 (1.8) and a windy 10.09 today can, along with Nketia Jr, add further depth to our men's fields.

Torrie Lewis's time is around 11.39 in still conditions compared to her December 2021 PB of 11.33 +1.5, which is worth around 11.43.

Christopher Mitrevksi makes his first appearance on the AUS alltime list for 100m, improving his official 2017 PB of 10.62 +0.1 in the process. It's worth noting that he ran a 10.21 +2.5 in December at Aberfeldie, which was worth around 10.33, so this time is not unexpected as it's equivalent to 10.32.

He also moves past to 2nd on the combined points list for 100/LJ behind Mitchell Watt and ahead of Peter Burge, the only three in the sub-10.50/+8m club. Now he just needs to get his LJ up to their standards...

Torrie Lewis is the fastest outright time by anybody in the U-18 or U-20 categories but Boyle's 11.33adj/11.20 +1.2 at 2250m still leads the alltime adjusted list.

From my wind and altitude adjusted data set (last updated 5/12/21), I could only find two U-18 athletes with adjusted times at 11.50 or better - Boyle and Wells. Torrie Lewis now makes it three with her weekend run of 11.39adj/11.18w and her official PB of 11.43adj/11.33 +1.5.

Still, while her times are right up there with Boyle, she's still a long way from OG finals. I will be interested to see how much she carves off her current bests over the course of the season. Tables by age group below. I'll update with recent performances sometime next month.

I think Izzy Batt-Doyle has knocked on a bit more over this last year than Rose Davies has. So, I fancy Batt-Doyle to turn the tables this year. World Championship standards (31:25) are a possibility I think and maybe also for Britain's Charlotte Purdue (only a 32:03 PB from 2012 but this is her first track 10,000 for 6 years).

Also, 16 year-old Claudia Hollingsworth is going again in the 1500. This time she has Abbey Caldwell (4:07 PB) to pull her along. Sub-4:10 for Claudia maybe?

Yes I agree with that. Our marathoners also have a shot at some fast times though it will still be around 30 celsius when the race is held.

I hope someone is doing early pace duties in the 1500 as it shouldn't be left up to Claudia though she ran a fine solo 4-12 in her last start.
