It's a shame the broadcast team sacked their sound engineer...

Not a fast race for the women but the combination of high temperaturre and humidity plus a slow early pace meant it was always about the win.

Oh well - first stream of the year - teething problems and they didn't last long.

Looking forward to the Aiden-laide Invitational in a couple of weeks

Was that you being a cranky old man and running around my suburb with a chainsaw at 03:30 trimming a few trees? It's not the way to improve the quality of the fields this evening.

Also possible storms tomorrow could be a bit of a bummer for the competitors. Hopefully we won't get another west Belco tree killer descending on the track. Still, it'd give you more to do with that chainsaw.

Sadly I'm more likely to be hobbling around with a walking stick than running with any kind of power-tool atm.

If it was 3.30am you may have confused my snoring with the sound of a chainsaw however.

Hoping tomorrow's downpours aren't too torrential and the winds aren't too unfavourable for the sprinters. Hopefully they all run flat out in their heats if they are held in reasonable conditions.

You must stop trying to impersonate Stefan Holm, it's not dignified for a man of...ahh...such delicate and refined maturity!

It's started raining here, so hopefully they get a warm humid start to tomorrow before any storms in the afternoon. The major issue is that all the top ranked get a straight entry into the semis, so might have there first run in substandard conditions. Sunday might be a bit more conducive for performances but this La Nina summer is hard to predict.

Hurdles races are done and dusted though most of them were ignored on the livestream with the camera frozen on a poor standard junior HJ for most of the morning.

Young Tayleb Willis said late last year his aim to was win the World Junior title in 2022, but he may have his hands full trying to win the National U20.

Severe thunderstorm warning for today has been cancelled/downgraded so we can hope a few brief showers are all that we will see this afternoon.

Sprints run in pouring rain. Basic was easing up a little but surprisingly edged out by Gross.

In the men's Roberts looked to get a bit of a flyer and Penny was left a bit.

Was hard enough trying to follow the Open Men's LJ - one of the strongest field events - on the stream but then the camera switched to one of the weakest field events (Women's PV) and for a couple of minutes we saw the bar and mats with nobody even attempting to vault. Then as we hear the official call the name 'Mitrevski' the camera switches to some para athletes standing around before the start of their 100m heats
