Now that we have the WC under our belts, any thoughts on who has the inside track for AOY, and who can steal it from them with the meets remaining? El.G.? Mutola?

On the men's side it's between ElG, Sanchez, and Bekele. Johnson in 4th. Forced to pick it's ( ho hum) ElG.

As to the women it's Guevara, Mutola, or Radcliffe. I'll take Radcliffe.

Don't forget Allen Johnson and Felix Sanchez on the men's side. For the women I think you'd have to consider Radcliffe and Kluft.

I'll take Sanchez because of his margin of victory and the quality of WC mark he put up. Paula can have it, if she marathons well again this year. Otherwise Guevara and Kluft can duke it out.

Don't y'all think it's a bit early? What if there are more WRs before end of GP season? What if Mutola or Guevara lose their remaining races? What if Radcliffe is back and runs 2:14 in Chicago?

Yes it is to early. Here's a quibble: why would El G's SILVER help him? He lost. You would have to look at his 1500 alone, which is excellent, but not anything much by his standards. Not even sub 3:28. His 5000 foray only diluted his chances. Will Kipchoge even get #1 in the 5K rankings?

well there's a good point for discussion.... is it more impressive to be world class at 1500 and 5000 than it is at 5000 and 10,000 ? We act like it is but is it really ? It just has happened less often, maybe that's all. The Woolworth double has always been quite common but not the others except of course the 100/200. But it's the Snells at 800/1500 and the Johnsons and Smiths at 200/400 that grab us.. maybe too much ? Same thing with King Carl at LJ/Sprints. He and Owens the only ones to pull that off.
