Last year following the Olympics there were a whole slew of results coming in, including from youth athletes who I keep an eye on. This year...nothing. The majority of them don't show a result since June. That hortas sotra YouTube channel hasn't posted anything since June.

I guess with the U18 and U20 championships going on along with big senior meets, nobody scheduled anything of note during this time frame.

It lends to strange imbalance. I see lots of examples of youth athletes who competed a heck of a lot more indoors than outdoors this year.
This would be a good window for a Rabat meet or a Doha meet.

    • I'm no sure having a big/medium level meet (DL or CT) makes sense for the meets. Knowing there are so many events going on (Commonwealth, U20s, Euros, NACAC) they will loose talent to thoes meets. Instead waiting until things are done makes sense. Also we just had a string of high-quality meets (Poland, Hungary, Monaco) so it's not like a drout is occuring.

But I think this could have been a good time to have maybe one ATL meet (though one did just happen right after Worlds)

      • I see there's a meet in Lappeenranta (Finland) this Wednesday.

The entries include Cole Hocker in the 5000, Drew Hunter in the 1500, and Ariana Ince in wJT

If a stream becomes available, the 5/15 are at 1:10/1:45pm ET.

        Results here: https://live.time4results.com/yu/202.../lappeenranta/

        Live stream listed at watchathletics.com

          Not much there.

          Ince won at 58m.
Hocker scorched the 5000 in 13:49.
          Hunter won in 3:41.

          • There was a meet in Poland today. Baumgart-Witan won the 400 in 51.48. I still think she should have led off the relay. If so Poland had a potential head to head advantage over Netherlands in each of the first three legs.

Courtney Okolo was second in 52.22

Kinga Gacka ran just off her personal best at 52.36. The two Dutch from the Munich 4 x 400 ran their typical range, Andrea Bouma in 53.42 and Laura de Witte at 54.19

the great thing about Laura DW, as I said when we were discussing relay line ups before Eugene, is that she often runs a rely split 2 secs faster than her individual time.

She ran a 52.2 split in Munich heats, yet only 54.2 here. But she is consistent in the relay against women much faster nationally in the individual. This is why she should always be considered over Oosterwegel and Peeters

An eloquent comment on a subject continually quoted here and elsewhere, namely, relay splits. Never quite understood the profound and intense interest by some posters here on relay splits, as if they always presage performances on the flat.
Plentiful evidence exists that , for some athletes, relays splits mean diddly squat about likely times on the flat 400m.

It may need a VPN to be watched outside Italy.
