Doug had some serious health issues a while back - life-threatening, as I recall. Anyone know if he's close to back to normal?

He was hit by a car in the 1990's which, as far as I know, he recovered from.

BYU Cougar Invitational

Niklas Arrhenius threw the discus 60.16m to win, making 2022 his 19th consecutive year with SB >60m.

This year also represents his eligibility change from SWE (end 25 Aug 2019) to USA (start 26 Aug 2022), although, practically, it doesn't start until next year.

With him turning 40 in September, time is running out even allowing for the longevity of discus throwers. However, it's not impossible as he has been at the pointy end of USA performer lists in recent years, so we will see:

2019 64.56 6th performer USA
2020 66.46 1st
2021 64.30 6th

2. The ACC JT Records are wrong---his ACC MR (before today!) was from 2019, not 2021!
So he's 8th A-T Collegiate, and 17th A-T American!!

Googling, I'm not finding any other info on where he attended high school or secondary school, or what kind of running stats he established, pre-college. Any clues? I'm wondering if he's a walk-in and/or somebody coming to track from another sport.

He had a couple of results last year from the Brian Clay meet...nothing spectacular. Listed unattached and as a 19 year old. I don't have a deep list but if someone has a 2020 HS list for the 800 and 1600/mile maybe he shows up there.

You are correct though. There's nothing out there on him nearly at all.

The 2021 HS Track (Jack Shepard) book's 2020 lists don't list him---I looked from the 400 to the Mile, IN & OUT!
But the 2020 lists were shorter than normal, due to Covid!
Maybe he didn't run that year!

A bit of further sleuthing found his pre-college experience at Anoka HS (Anoka, MN, a suburb of Minneapolis). Class of 2020, his 2019 800m PR might be 2:06.04, but at the 2019 State Meet he ran a 4x800 leg of 1:57.78.

A fascinating improvement. Talk about coming from out of nowhere.
