Note that 45 gets you #20 over all or #17 non altitude
, so #7 in the world not at altitude in 1971 for 45.5 does not look so bad?

          Final (July 19)
          (wind: +0.9 m/s)
          1. Usain Bolt Jamaica 20.61

          Grafton Ifill Bahamas DNF

Jeremy's time at 16 years old was 0.2 seconds faster than the so-called ultimate protigee Bolt at the world junior championship same year. 2002
Also Bolt's time was wind assisted.......

Strange that Bolt got all the press.... and stranger still that these facts are burried. When JW runs a 200 now, it is like who's he trying to kid.... running the "wrong" distance. The stats here say potentially JW could be the fastest at 200 also..... I mean 20.4 at 16.... every coach would expect sub 20 someday from this kind of guy......

It would appear that JW's basic speed is better that anyone in the 400. If you watch a race and see him accelerate, these facts make the obvious more obvioius....

Warriners progression is 46.97 to 45.78 here over a year.
Early in 79 Coe ran 46.8.
It could be suggested that if Coe trained and raced the 400, the progression would be similar?

              err...

it looks to me that jw was 18y when he ran 20.41

Also Bolt's time was wind assisted.......
              err...

              a < 2.0 m/s wind reading is legal

now, come back & wake us up when jw runs a low-altitude wind-legal

Here is another little fact: Seeing that JWs 200m time is 20.37 (#1) this early in the season as well as the fact that he is just starting to train for the 200 in the last 2 yrs, he will most likely go sub-20 this year.

This being the case he would be the only other 400m sub-44 guy to go sub-20 other than MJ. I think that speaks volumes. Oh and only 22 yrs old. In fact I don't even think there is a sub-20 guy who ran a sub-44.50.

Just thought I throw that out. Please correct if wrong.

                  JW was 18 in 2002 not 16

                  I'm stupid. JWariner's age in 2002 was 18 not 16..

Well your right maybe not this year but I will take that offer sounds good.

my main point was that IF he does more than when he would be the only other guy.

To this day, I am still cannot believe that he did not make the WC Finals with that time in the semi's. Did Pettigrew cruise to victory in his heat with a slower time than Davis? I think he did, but I am not sure. If Davis did not have the fastest non-qualifying (for finals) 400m time (OG's, WC's, etc.), who does?

Here is an interesting comparison, Michael Johnson's high school performance at the Texas state meet vs. Jeremy Wariner's high school performance at the Texas state meet.

I believe that MJs 200m were hand timed and JWs were FAT. Based on MJ's high school times, I don't think anyone would have predicted he would dominate the 200m like he did.
