John Hancock Financial Services today announced that Derartu Tulu of
Ethiopia has withdrawn from our 2006 Boston Marathon Elite Field due to a
stomach virus.

John Hancock Financial Services today announced two changes to its 2006
Boston Marathon elite athlete field:

* Men's Field
-- Kazuo Ietani of Japan has been added to the elite field.

* Women's Field
-- Elfenesh Alemu of Ethiopia has withdrawn from the field due to a knee
injury.
