I think I'd be impressed if that was outdoors too!

Heck, for a twelve-year-old I'd be impressed if was a downhill straightaway on the roads!

Made me look up the outdoor record. 55.01 (actually by an 11 year old!) All pretty fast considering the age . . .

If I had an 11-year-old girl who ran a 55 she WOULD be a runner!

        "Daddy, can we talk?"

"Sure, Becky. You can talk to me about anything. You're my baby-girl. What's up?"

        "Well . . . I think . . . well, I don't really like running. I don't want to do it anymore."

        "Yes you do."

        "Huh?"

"Of course you want to run. Did your mother put you up to this?"

"No Daddy. But . . . running isn't fun to me. I don't like it."

        "Yes you do."

        "But Daddy . . . "

"Sweetheart, can we talk about this another time? It's getting dark, and we need to get to the track. Now go get your shoes on."

        "But Daddy -"

"And I've been thinking, Sweetheart, you need a nickname. How 'bout Ch-Ching!"

Kevin Sulliva still has the age 14 800 and 1500 and would have the mile too if he would have bothered to run it.

You just did. I second the nom!

[P.S. - as an aside to everyone - at the end of the year, I do a search for the term 'tafny' or 'tafnies' in order to compile the Final Ballot, so if ya see sumpin ya like, use the term in order to earmark the post for us (yes, there's actually a nomination committee, membership to which is open to everybody!]

[P.P.S - the authority to usurp my supreme authority is all matters about Tafnies is hereby granted to all solicitators. My position as head poopbah in such matters (or any others concerning this board) is a schizophrenic delusion entirely residing in my own head and bears no official recognition from the true Powers That Be, who simply humor my delusion in Benign Neglect.]

And years later, after she makes the Olympic soccer team, Beke's daughter tells how it all started...

Wow. I didn't know about that girls' age 11 record. VERY impressive, considering it's only :0.8 off the boys record for that age.
