  • 200m sprinter type to stop WARINER's hegemony?...

    Among all the World-class quarter-milers, nowadays, I don't see
any specialist capable of taking WARINER's 400m crown...
May be some kind of "michaeljohnsonian sprinter", I mean a young sub-20"00
sprinter, hyper resistant and experienced enough to dominate his crazy
    speed.
    Xavier CARTER?
Why not, for example, a Darvis PATTON or a Tyson GAY...

The X-Man cometh. He 'should' be America's next great one-lapper. if F-Ball doesn't reclaim him.

It will be interesting to watch the X-Man's development this season. He & Jeremy won the indoor championships in about the same time (45.2 to 45.3) & we all know Jeremy improve to Olympics Gold that same year.

If the X-man loses some of that football weight he would have the prefect body for the 400m at 6'3". I think the X-Man is the closes thing to the next MJ running a 20 flat & a 44.0 split as a freshman.

Let's not forget about you know who. He didn't even consider the CWG worth going to.

You're going to have to elaborate on these responses.

I thought it was funny that you did not call out the person's name. Sometimes, that takes guts to do because others may not know what or who you are talking about (inside joke maybe).

Xavier Mcdaniel had the biggest gut I have ever seen for an ex NBA power forward. I don't think he's much of competitor for Wariner.......

History isn't exactly on Wariner's side in the "hegemony" department. He's about to try to become No. 1 for the third year in a row. Throwing out MJ (because he's god, that's why), in the history of the T&FN World Rankings only two other guys, Evans and Juantorena, were able to put 3-year strings together. Staying on top can be harder than getting there.

to be fair though, he actually does seem to be getting better: 44.00 in '04, <44.00 ( bad weather ) in '05 & still very young

this is the only off-season he will have in the next 4y, so it probably won't make any big difference if he doesn't finish number 1 ranked this year

if some other guy finishes number 1 with a sb of 44.2 - 44.3, i doubt jw will lose any sleep over it ( jw may not run a 400 at all this year - just running 800's :P )
