She got a vote for 4th which makes no sense to me.

    • Mu in the top 10 makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Remember when Nike paid athletes more based on their TFN ranking? Who knows, maybe they still do. And maybe some of the voters have some connection with Nike. Who bleeding knows, coz it makes no sense LOL.

      • There were six undefeated world champions on the ballot. Mu deserved strong consideration.

          Exactly. Ignore the trolls.

Back when I was on the panel, I had my ballot returned for changes a couple times, because I had violated one of the specific guidelines, but not for being "outside the norm". But never had one tossed entirely that I know of. This was back in the era when balloting was done by mailing pieces of paper back and forth. (My *high school* ballot, on the other hand, has been tossed multiple times, as I have a tendency to march to a different drummer.)

Top 10 just maybe but 4th is ridiculous. Remember she had a very thin season.

Unlike the Europeans and Commonwealth people after WCs there wasn't much to do for Americans if you aren't keen on DL.

4th might be a bit high though. She was phenomenal however.

                  As did Syd and Jeruto.

I am still dumbfounded that undefeated World Champion, top 3 throws of the year, Chase Ealey, was ignored.

I agree that Ealey should be much higher than =13th!

                    • Women's shot put is just not that competitive.

I had to Google her name to remember what she did. And I was there at Hayward.

Ealey wasn't undefeated. She had indoor losses.

                          PFFFT. Completely different entity.
There was separate voting for indoor athletes in that season. This double-dipping is silly. So many athletes have no desire/'opportunity' to sully their seasons indoors.

For top 10 yes. Top 4 I don't agree with at all.

                            signed...apparently...a troll.

                              Weird flex, but OK.

                              • Despite a really prehensile mind, I am unable to wrap my brain around that. Five over 20m seems pretty competitive to me.

                                1 20.51 Chase EALEY
                                2 20.39 Lijiao GONG
                                3 20.38 Jiayang SONG
                                4 20.33 Sarah MITTON
                                5 20.24 Jessica SCHILDER

Meanwhile the men are much less competitive . . .

                                1 23.23 Joe KOVACS
                                2 23.12 Ryan CROUSER
                                3 22.31 Tom WALSH
                                4 22.29 Josh AWOTUNDE
                                5 21.99 Zane WEIR

or or you being duped by the 1980's wSP distances?
