Welteji just got wave-lit to an 8:33.44 WL to win the w3000.
She stopped with a lap to go and had to restart!

Credit to the original pacemaker for remaining on the track not too far beyond the finish line. She was the one who immediately noticed Welteji had stopped one lap too soon, and chased after her to essentially shove her back into the race. It looked like meet official contributed in the same manner.

Welteji needs to race with more confidence in the huge races. I was hoping she'd finish it off with a big world leading time to jumpstart that confidence. She does look a bit heavier and stronger.

Klaver went through the first 200m noticeably slower than usual in 24.2 and was much more relaxed as you say.

Interestingly Klaver herself said she was too slow and too passive over the first 200m....let's watch this space and see if she can go faster off a faster opening half.
