  • The w60mh was superb, Skrzyszowska and Hurske having another great battle. Visser has been a bit behind Skrzyszowska in training videos, but closer in competition. If the Euro Indoors happens, and they all run, those 3 should be the favourites for the medals.

Tentoglu is in that groove where he makes it look so easy.

I was in two minds re Hodgkinson's run. Overall it was good, time wise, but tactically she let Yarigo get too far ahead and should have made her move to close the gap a bit sooner.

The fashion show in the m60mh was quite fun.

Klaver with another opening 200m outside 24, very controlled (too passive again?) but with a noticeable kick in the last 50m. Sub 51 will come either in Lievin or the NCs.

As Meadows' husband is KH's coach she has a good idea of the shape she is in and her personal expectations.

Any news on Swiety-Ersetic & Baumgart-Witan? It seems strange not to see either of them compete indoors.

Święty should start her season soon. I hear she did not compete in Toruń only because she could not reach an agreement with the organizers. As to Baumgart, it sounds to me like she's skipping the indoors, though I'm not 100% sure.

            • I see that Bol, Kielbasinka and several others are slated for 200-400 double duty in Metz, but Klaver is only listed at 200. I think Meuwly wants to separate Klaver and Bol until finals of Dutch championships, partially to maintain Klaver's confidence level heading into European Indoors. Two years ago she faltered in the final to 5th. Last year I believe Klaver ran the 200 and then the 400 B final in Metz. This year her stature is higher so it probably wouldn't look good to take that route.

It's been like that the last couple of indoor seasons though, this isn't a new approach. In Metz 21/22 & Vienna 21 Bol & Klaver have been in different heats of the 400m & 200m. The only race they clashed outside the NCs last year was Torun.

I do think Bol's participation in Boston has also had an impact, she has needed a bigger gap to her next meet (she stayed in the US for a couple of days after the race, then the travel back..) and they were not going to put Klaver's racing schedule on hold because of that. Similarly Kielbasinska was committed to run in Boston because she's a New Balance athlete, leading to her missing her home countries marquee event in Torun too. Hence Klaver running in Torun as usual and Bol & Kielbasinska not.

Not running the 400m in Metz may just be because Klaver ran in Torun & they want a good opportunity to attack the NR over 200m indoors. Note originally Euro bronze medalist Karlsson was supposed to be running, but has withdrawn, so they may have felt Klaver needed to be fresh in the 200m (the 400m is run first..). But if she were in the 400m in Metz, she would probably have been in a different heat anyway, as before.

However, note, virtually all the Meuwly training camp are running in Metz: Bol, Klaver, Kielbasinska, Sallberg, Bouma, Tkachuk, Lehikoinen..all doubling apart form Klaver...but then she is the only one that ran in Torun 2 days ago.

                • Pia Skrzyszowska is out for the rest of the indoor season with a thigh injury :-/ It doesn't sound too serious, but she doesn't want to take any risks.

On the plus side, Kaczmarek's injury turned out to be a minor issue. She's now due to compete in Lievin.

                            • Interesting story out of the Asian Championships this weekend which are being held in Astana, Kazakhstan. EJ Obiena and several other vaulters have dropped out of the competition as there are no airlines serving Astana (or anywhere near) that will allow them to check poles or even ship them to the meet.

Korea'a Sanghyeok Woo, who has a knack for PRing at the right time, was one jump and done in qualifying at 2.14 for tomorrow's final. Thailand's Puripol Boonson who ran 10.09 and 20.19 last summer as a 16 year old is not on the startlists.

                              • Femke Bol ran 49.96 in the 400m in Metz. That makes her No 4 All-time
