Who is Phil Sesemann? I went to his wiki page and found this gem of a career assessment (with friends like this who needs)....

"Sesemann was famous throughout the athletics community for starting a track season in strong form and frequently falling apart and fading out by August, resulting in lackluster performances. Notable occasions were both at the Woodside stadium in Watford, where in 2017 he finished last over 1500m in a time of 3.57.27"

The casual British follower of the sport is most likely to know him from running 2:12 something in the last 2 London Marathons and being one of the leading Brits. I suspect he has the potential to run some decent 5000s and 10000s but whether he will is another matter.

Mr Sesseman is hardly worth a half sentence in track talk. 2.12 in the Marathon, wow!!A leading marathon Brit, double wow.!!
The race in question the other day is no importance, and demonstrates that it is early January and nothing is yet happening.

Some spectacular competition on the board for who can put the damper on virtually anything T&FN related or otherwise within the shortest span of time.

So now are we going to start slamming all runners who do not measure up to our high standards? Who will be the first to start the thread : "your favorite mediocre athlete who never lives up to expectations".

While Sesseman's popularity is debatable, the person who edited his Wikipedia bio is a piece of work. (unless he did it himself, self-mockingly, in which case it is brilliant).

As far as the importance of the race, the loss will factor into the 2023 AOY discussion.

Does that mean that Wightman winning the 800/1500 double in Budapest won't suffice for AOY or maybe only if he also breaks both WRs? 😉

Lol, there's seems to an big emphasis by some pundits on an "undefeated" season/year as a big factor in their opinion of who should be AOY.

Abby Steiner running her first 400m tomorrow in Kentucky (flat 290m oversized track). I think this is her first 400m since high school sometime, I'm seeing a 57.21 result for her from like 8 years ago

Olympic and European LJ champion Miltos Tentoglou opened up his indoor season with a really good 8.33m in Athens yesterday.

A couple of weeks ago I did start a USA indoor thread, to sort out results.

[i.e., not college or HS] Hobbs Kessler is starting off well at the Wolverine (Mich) Invite. https://live.deltatiming.com/meets/1...680989/results (https://live.deltatiming.com/meets/19490/events/680989/results) m1000 Kessler 2:20.76 Grice 2:21.23 edit - yeah, I renamed the thread!

Now there are HS, NCAA, and USA 'pro' threads, plus World indoor. [plus Multis and World outdoor]
