I guess Steiner is decent, 51.70 in her 400 adventure at Kentucky (OT)

The race in question the other day is no importance, and demonstrates that it is early January and nothing is yet happening.
The next time you beat a world 1500 meter champ coming from behind in the home stretch you will have a little (not much) more credibility to make a co.ment on who is worthy for track talk. As for most of us, that is what we do. We talk. We are fans, and most of us are all smart enough to know this is not that important in the grand scheme of things. Hats off to Mr Sesseman for winning a race he set out to win.

Thats, IMO, a very good mark for her first race back, first indoor race as a pro, first weekend of the year, and first open 400m since 2015

Good result. I just hope she does not overdo it after seeing how much she raced last year. I would almost prefer she took indoor season off and focus only on outdoors. She has a unique talent. Just fearful of too much racing.

Considering she's not in the NCAA anymore, it will be hard to match that amount of racing. No relays alone cuts out a significant number of races she did.

Japan are sending a pretty good team of 30 athletes to the Asian Indoor Championships, taking place in Astana, Kazakhstan from 10 to 12 February.

It's headlined by Yuki Hashioka (M LJ) and Ririka Hironaka (W 3000).

Hironaka's teammate in the 3000 is Yuma Yamamoto, a very good collegian with 8:52 & 15:16 outdoor bests. The Women's 1500 pair, Ran Urabe & Yume Goto, are Japan's two best after Nozomi Tanaka.

The men's 1500 team, Iizawa Kazuto & Nanami Arai, are a pair of 3:36 athletes (# 2 & # 4 Japanese A-T) and the 3000 pair are strong too - Yuta Bando is a 13:18 outdoor athlete and Keita Satoh ran 3:37 and 13:23 outdoors last year, aged 18 (both Japanese U20 records).

Full team (translated to English) at https://www.dropbox.com/s/tds7g15mnj...pdf?dl=0

Honestly this time is below Abby's standards. I suspect had she run 400 indoors last year at Arkansas or the Texas A&m track she may have had a mark in the mid 50s. Her relay legs show she is clearly well below sub 50s outdoors. Maybe she is taking a laidback approach but i am underwhelmed.

To be fair, this was her season opener. And indoors
