I was surprised she ran so well considering the awful track! How anyone could concentrate with that amount of people and stuff going on in the infield I don't know! Time-wise, whilst not massively impressive, it was a very decent opener. We expect a lot of her because of her range, but imagine if DAS, or SAF or Thompson or Gabby Thomas i.e. other 200m sprinters, opened their '23 season in Jan with a 51.7 over 400m, we'd all be very impressed.
I agree with the above; this was just a rust buster. She has a new focus this year, with no doubt a whole new approach to her racing programme. Let's be patient.

Perhaps, but there have only been 27 performances all time below 50.40. I was looking at that list the other day for refresher purposes. I think in transition to indoor we lose sight of how much slower it is than outdoor, and that fewer are able to adjust, or fully emphasize. The 27th fastest outdoor result is 48.85.Last edited by Trickstat; 01-18-2023, 10:15 PM.

As the indoor season starts to ramp up, Cross Country continues and the Continental Tour gets going Down Under, there's loads of good stuff on the free live streams for this weekend and Monday.
