  • Some shock news that I'm sure at least TN1965 will be interested in ...

Kaede Hagitani has retired from athletics aged just 22 - http://japanrunningnews.blogspot.com...at-age-22.html
She ran 14:59 for 5000 at the age of 20 but didn't have such a good year last year. At the 2021 Olympics she had the misfortune to run 15:04.95 in her heat (a PB at the time) and yet not get into the final. Without checking I'm pretty sure that time would have made most or all of the previous Olympic finals.

Praveen Chitravel swept to a PB & Indian National Record (NR) of 17.37m (-1.5) to win the men's Triple Jump at the V Prueba de Confrontación in Cuba. He held off Cristian Nápoles who jumped 17.34m (1.8) for 2nd place.

      • Any preliminary entries for the Kip Keino classic this weekend? Im hearing Sha'Carri is running the 200m instead of the 100m. Maybe to separate her and Shelly-Ann?

Hmmmm my interest is piqued. 50.88 in her first outing. In the conversation in Budapest me thinks.

                    • A 50.88 for Naser, her first 400m since 2019, with a huge margin over Cofil, and mid May, is extremely ominous.

                      • I was of the opinion that if she ran sub 51 in her first 400m back, she is in Gold medal conversation. I stand by that after this race.

                        • That's....... actually impressive. I believe this is also her fastest opener so far in her career.

2nd fastest after her 50.51 opener in 2018.

But yes this is an incredible comeback performance. I was expecting 51-high at best.

Im wondering if Cofil is not chromosomally ambiguous. Nasser has a ways to go but her margin over a ecent runner bodes well
