I am trying to find a results site for the CIF-SS Masters Track meet and am having no luck. Meet should be starting about now.

On Friday, he ran the 800 meter run setting up the somewhat unconventional quadruple at a state championship.
Today, Saturday, he finished second in the 100 meter dash in 10.67 and then ran the state record 400 meter dash capping that off with 4a state record in the 200 meter dash.
Three 1st and one 2nd along with one all classification state record and a class record. Not a bad 3 days work for the at the moment Kansas State University bound Senior!

Another landmark performance last night by Benne Anderson, the Grand Rapids Ottawa Hills (Mich.) senior distance standout who's been one of the fastest-rising distance preps in the U.S. this spring. Adding to his recent 8:41.50 3200 and 4:03.04 mile PRs, he clocked 1:49.68 for 800 -- a PR by 3 seconds -- at a late-season invite in nearby Comstock Park.
There's an exclusive sub-1:50 / sub-8:50 club that probably includes less than a dozen preps and now includes Anderson. I remember about 10 years ago when Craig Engels joined that club and thinking he was the 4th to do so at that time, adding to Webb and ...
I'm sure several more have done so since, but haven't tracked or researched it recently. Off the top of my head, a few of the Newbury Park kids, probably Ed Cheserek, Drew Hunter and... ??
Edit: I guess Engels did not break 8:50, just sub-9:00. So far, I've got Alan Webb, Ed Cheserek, Drew Hunter, Hobbs Kessler ... then just last year, both Sahlmans, Gary Martin and Zane BergenLast edited by steveu; 05-24-2023, 02:25 PM.

Before the recent flood, sub-1:50/sub-9:00 was unusual enough to be the framework of discussion, which is why steveu recalled Engels and you recall Spivey.

A lot of state meet action this weekend ... might be the most state meets of any weekend of the spring.
This morning in Oregon, Tyrone Gorze improved his 3k HSL to 8:04.60, winning the 5A race by 14 seconds over Logan Law (8:18.08). Jacob Nenow took the 6A race in 8:17.07. Girls 6A 100m prelims saw very fast victories by Mia Brahe-Pedersen in 11.11 (+1.3w) -- just off her altitude-aided HSL of 11.08 -- and national LJ leader Sophia Beckmon 11.33 (+1.7w).
Great battle in Washington 3A 1600 yesterday, with sophomore Owen Powell 4:07.75 over Brody Hartley 4;07.97 and Vincent Recupero 4:08.04. Powell is the son of coaches Andy and Maurica. Recupero's team, Bishop Blanchett, also had runners in that race at 4:10.93, 4:12.40 and 4:22.08 (a dandy 16:53.35 total).
Some good marks yesterday in the TN D1-AAA meet, including Jordan Ware (Memphis Central sr) 10.13 (+2.0w) and 20.63 (+1.6w).

Things getting underway in California at Buchanan High in Clovis. Pleasantly warm, figures to be a bit hotter tomorrow.
best of all, we actually have working internet so I can offer reports as time allows. (This doesn't figure to be a "vintage" meet, but we'll have our share of top-class performances.
Word is that Rodrick Pleasant may have a hamstring issue, so Riley Washington's somewhat questionable 10.30 meet record may be safe for another year.

100 meter qualifying in Clovis - last qualifier is 10.591, with 10.594, 10.598, and 10.598 not advancing. All legal, I think.
Pleasant runs an eased up 10.36, which is a pretty good performance away from the "friendly" conditions of Moorpark HS.

Weird stuff happening in the women's distances tonight. National leader (2:03) and defending champ McKenzie Brown makes the final as the last time qualifier. And national co-recordholder Sadie Engelhardt gets in to the 1600 final only as a time qualifier. I suppose she must have been following the pace very precisely, being in the second of two heats.
