No impeding the other runner, but lane 5 was definitely outside his lane!DQ????
it is my understanding that as long as you don't impede another runner, yes, you may run FARTHER than you need to. Similarly you may run out of lane on a straightaway with the same caveat.

What in the world! 16 year old Adaejah Hodge just ran 22.33s to win the 200m in the new balance indoor meet! It makes her 7th! 7th!! On the world all time indoor list tied with Gwen Torrence. It's also faster than the world outdoor u18 record of 22.42 which was ran with a huge tailwind. It's also the new world indoor junior record. She would have also finished third in the NCAA's finals behind Alfred and Ofili. Shawnti Jackson pulled up on the home straight, hopefully the injury isn't too severe.

Something seems amiss in the 200 results from New Balance facility in Boston. Times all winter much quicker there for collegiate runners than at any other facility by far. It’s certainly a wide radius facility but the times are hard to believe. Will see as the preps immediately go outside.

22.33 HSR (=7 W, =2 A; correct me if I'm wrong here) in the final!!

After looking at the performances at the Nike (NYC) and New Balance (Boston), it looks as if the Armory may have lost its status as having the premier national indoor meet.

Not to me. A guy who goes 6.57 and 6.59 has to be capable of going mid-20.xx indoors. And what about Hodge's 22.33?! Spectacular!

What happened to Shawnti Jackson? She pulled out of the 60 final and cracked up in the 200. Did she get hurt?

I wonder if it is part of the trend of early development???

This performance was 1 day prior to her 17th B-day. 1 year at this time period is a big difference but none the less an absolutely off the charts performance.

Which begs this question: How close will she get to Allyson Felix' outdoor record of 22.11? If she breaks it, will she even break 22.00?

Was Nyckoles Harbor injured at the NB indoor? It looks he DNSd in both the 60 and the 200. In the 4X2 for his high school his name was listed as the second runner which was the slowest leg on his team by 2 seconds (23.xx). Hope he's not, or if he is, it's not serious.

Regarding the 200 of Ms. Hodge, color me highly skeptical. I'm simply not buying any of it.
