  • Maggie Malone AL 62.28, three throws over 60

    • I think someone put Paul Chelimo's 27:12 in the world results thread, but I just want to go on record that, barring a drastic reduction in form, this makes him pretty much a lock for the U.S. WC 10,000 team, IMHO. If he chooses the 10 over the 5 or goes for the double. 10 is on Thursday, 5 is on Sunday, so the 5 would be icing on the cake if he makes the 10 team.

First, his 10 was done running alone the second half of the race in less than ideal conditions, so it's safe to say his ceiling is faster than 27:12. Doubtful the Trials race will go near 27.

Second, the race will likely go very fast the last mile as Fisher attempts to run away from the kickers like Kincaid and Chelimo. Chelimo should be able to kick down most of the fast guys (Klecker, et al).

      • Not sure Chelimo will have qualified. Qualifying for the 10,000m is simply a hot mess once we get past the time qualifier.

her 3rd fastest time ever. Not too far off her 12.44 PB from back at LSU. The hurdles at USA is going to be stacked as always

She also ran 12.48 in the heats

Hope springing eternal, yada, yada, yada . . . I say she and Bobby learned something (you're not ready to go out that fast), but will continue to explore a hot pace. She has nothing to gain by running the 'smartest' race now, as she and BK are probing her limits. I say she runs a 49.1 with a little more evenly paced effort. They are looking for 48.7ish at USATF (replicating her 47.9r) and 48.2ish at WC.

                            • Cravont Charleston is quietly building himself a great season's record.

                              9.91 in LA
                              9.95 in Finland on Tuesday
9.90 (+0.9) again today in Finland

He's sneaking up on our cadre of super-stars.
