I think he might be referring to her competitive outcomes of zero OG teams and a WC silver (2015) and 4th 2022. Compare that to younger SML and Bol and the older Muhammad and it shows that Little's return on investment is rather poor given her fast times.
Sure, she can hope for one of those to get injured or retire but she herself turns 28 in a few months, so that's a potentially risky strategy. Alternatively, the flat 400m seems to have more opportunity for somebody who already has a sub-50 PB off only a few flat races every year.

But if she specialised in the 400 flat, technique becomes far less important, she'd be running sub-49.5, and would make the US team every time, and be one of the favorites to medal (albeit probably not gold -- but she'd be closer to gold in the 400m flat than in the hurdles).Last edited by 18.99s; 01-29-2023, 10:57 AM.
