Not sure Chelimo will have qualified. Qualifying for the 10,000m is simply a hot mess once we get past the time qualifier.

I think someone put Paul Chelimo's 27:12 in the world results thread, but I just want to go on record that, barring a drastic reduction in form, this makes him pretty much a lock for the U.S. WC 10,000 team, IMHO. If he chooses the 10 over the 5 or goes for the double. 10 is on Thursday, 5 is on Sunday, so the 5 would be icing on the cake if he makes the 10 team.

First, his 10 was done running alone the second half of the race in less than ideal conditions, so it's safe to say his ceiling is faster than 27:12. Doubtful the Trials race will go near 27.

Second, the race will likely go very fast the last mile as Fisher attempts to run away from the kickers like Kincaid and Chelimo. Chelimo should be able to kick down most of the fast guys (Klecker, et al).

A lot could be due to money. 100 meter runners get a lot of appearance money.

I'm beginning to suspect a (unintentional?) misdirect from MN.
Despite his declaration to run the 100 this year, I think he will take the 400 bye into Budapest and only run the 400 there.
Perhaps the intended 100 sorties are merely 'speed-enhancers'.

Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone entered to race a flat 400m for the first time in two years. She has said she wants to add the 400m to the 400m hurdles.

A quick update as most entries for all the events have been announced (pretty early too!). McLaughlin is racing Paulino and Cofil so some good competition to push her and not an empty field!

also notable, Norman running the 400m...
