I don't think anybody is sleeping on her after those relay legs last summer. She became so well known after prelims the cameraman twice shifted attention to her during the final, even though she was well back in the pack. That was third leg. There was so much attention to Adeleke the announcer failed to notice that Helena Ponette of Belgium was running a freakish all time best during that leg to surge Belgium into the lead.

I dont doubt that, but most people here are American so are definitely less familiar.

At the risk of veering off topic, this is an example of a statistical pet peeve of mine. Running a non-qualifying 4th in the semi-finals (fastest non-qualifier) does not mean someone was 9th place in the World Championships. To me, only finishers in the final earn a place.

Great time, yet still short of Mary Cain's 4:24:11 at 17 years old in 2014. Oh, what could have been if she didn't go pro so young.
