On the distaff side, Weißenberg leads the World Combined Events Tour. Lazraq-Khlass is fifth, Loban is ninth, and Oosterwegel is eighteenth. If Weißenberg scores less than 6248 in Talence, then Oosterwegel may pass her with a score of 6385.

Indeed, Oosterwegel passed Weißenberg in the World Combined Events Tour standings. As it turned out, this would have happened even if Weißenberg had matched her PB in the 800. Instead, she was obviously nursing an injury (ankle, foot, achilles tendon 🤷♂️), and struggled home last in Heat 2. Oosterwegel, then Oosterwegel and Kälin, and then Käalin and Sprengel supported her as she gingerly walked the traditional lap of honor.

Williams runs alongside Gletty in front for the first two laps, and then drops out. Hautekeete then surges to the lead, on the way to a PB 4:29.67. Gletty passes Hautekeete on the last lap and runs a PB 4:27.46 to finish with 8443, just shy of automatic qualification standard for the upcoming Olympic Games, 8460 points. As Agent 86 often said, "Missed it by...that much."
