I was one who offered this opinion and I think it is largely true that athletes will stick with the shortest distance they can have the most success with. As with anything, there are exceptions to this rule.

There's no doubt her current PB's in some events aren't representative of her ability right now (the flat 400m...) However, I don't believe focusing solely on the 100/200 would take her to the form she'd need to beat an in-form Jackson, Thompson etc. over the half lap.
Sydney ran 11.07 (windy) and 22.39 as a U20 in 2018 and has no recorded marks in either event since. She certainly hasn't gotten slower.

I think this is probably becoming increasingly untrue for mid distance and long distance runners, at least for those who are trying to make a living off of running. There is just so much more money in road races now that I think more people are moving upwards in distance. This is even true of many of the best 1500/5k/10k runners. Many of them are moving up to take cracks at the half and full marathons earlier because there's so much prize money. The fact that people like Gidey are trying the marathon so early, as well as Genzebe Dibaba (who has no results for 10k on the track) speaks to how road running, and consequently longer distances, are becoming increasingly incentivized

What are the chances the WR of 1:06.31 is in play for Bol?

Forsheva was a 50 flat indoor 400m runner at the time she ran the record so I'd say Bol has a shot although we don't know what kind of shape she's currently in.

Interesting Bol is opening her season here. I wonder how much New Balance pressured her into running (or how much €€)?

As it's her opening race, anything under 1:08 and I would be happy. Under 1:07 would be great. The World Best in this event is still pretty tasty, but let's see. Krasnomovets-Forsheva used to employ the typical Russian approach, blast from the gun & hold on. Zaytseva (Number 2) less so, but still went out hard. Bol appears to have more endurance than the two.

It could be quite a competitive race; Kielbasinska did two 7.24's (60m) & 23.02 (200m) the same day, and 300m might be her ideal distance. We also get to see how Prandini is doing under Kersee.

So which countries outside USA have the slightest interest in these non events worldwide, 500 and 600m.
Perhaps in the States some body fancies a 700m and a 900m event.. As for the post talking about WRs ..ridiculous unless you accidentally meant USA records

The 300m, 500m, 600m, 1000m and 2000m records for women are all held by athletes from countries outside the US.
