Sifan Hassan has a very high-pitched voice when I've heard her speak after races.

I cannot bear to hear american women squawking with very high pitched voices. All a question of personal taste.!.

I am looking forward to a meeting like Lievin or in Poland, even Birmingham, with a normal programme. 300m,500m,600m .As you posters say, give me a break.

He was obviously in great form the previous week (7:39) and had two good sub-4s before that. So either he just had an off day or something physical bothering him in training this week or during the race.

There's only two USA indoor grand prix meets, I guess both offering decent prize money and entry into world indoors. It it just my conspiracy theory inclinations, or (other than Woody in the 3K, also Laura Muir) was there a big absence of Nike fluorescent (or any other color Nike) super shoes in most of the track races? Is it a east coast/west coat thing, or it about marketing and where athletes run? It seemed to be like a New Balance vs Adidas dual meet ? Will there be a much bigger Nike presence at Millrose ? I see Nike is a top line sponsor of the Millrose Games.

Nine PBs (out of 13 finishers) including two NRs in women's mile.

Tanaka also broke her own 1500 NR en route.

I nearly mentioned it here last night, as a heads up because it was certain to play out this way if she was interviewed by Lewis Johnson immediately after the race, especially since she had to deal with an extra 100 meters. Frankly I'm kicking myself for not mentioning it and I don't remember why I got sidetracked. I always like to be aware of, and tip, the situational influence.

This became a big deal in Tokyo. Lots of people who weren't aware of the tendency had a similar reaction after Bol was interviewed following her bronze medal at 400 hurdles. The comments under related YouTube videos were the same thing, with some people exclaiming dismay at the cartoon voice while others were saying it's always higher pitched after a race.
Now that you mentioned it I do remember hearing her in a couple of pre-meet interviews, and the video posted above, and yes this is not her typical voice - odd phenomenon. Now I'm curious about the science behind this

What the hell does nationality have to do with is topic? But, coming from you the comment would almost certainly be expected.

Continuing to roll from a break through season last year. It's only once race, but I wonder if NL is considering the 100/200 double in Paris and is using this indoor/outdoor season to work on things and prep for that.

Is helium doping a thing? (JUST KIDDING! Please don't ban me!)

I remember in the 70s they would start off the track meet show (CBS?) with athletes introducing themselves, their event, and what they hoped to achieve that day. There was one that started (if I recall correctly) "How are you doing? This is Warren Edmonson..."

I think it's only performance-enhancing if your normal voice is as deep as Michael Johnson's and you need to sound like Mickey Mouse.

                        • I thought Bol looked so good in that last 100m, I'm intrigued to how fast she could run 600m....

                          • What is everyone's thoughts on McLaughlin's & Prandini's performances? (I include both now Prandini is under Kersee's tutelage).

I was expecting a bit more from McLaughlin, even though this was her opening race in an unfamiliar event, I still thought she would run in the 7.2 range. Of course 7.33 is good for a 400m runner, but consider 400m runner Anna Kielbasinska ran 7.24 last week. Christine Ohuruogu ran 7.39 in her first ever 60m competition when she was a year younger than McLaughlin. (note, the following month after that 7.39, Ohuruogu ran 50.28 outdoors over 400m.)
To me, it says she is firmly in the 400m/400mh camp, and her current performance level is not geared to short sprints (I guess one of the reasons why they are starting to introduce short sprint competitions..)

Prandini was very disappointing. I guess it takes time to settle into a new training group and approach, and she may have been training through this, but 38.16 is much slower than I imagined. She ran slower than Bol's 300m split during her 500m WB.

Did Kersee take this meet seriously? Were the $$ and commitments too much to refuse? Or were they simply training through?

In reference to McLaughlin, here are the names she finished ahead of on Saturday:
Shericka Jackson - World Gold and Silver medalist
Cambrea Sturgis - 2x NCAA Champion
Kenni Harrison - Olympic Silver medalist (hurdles)
Javianne Oliver - US Olympic trials Champion and Olympic relay silver medalist and

Also Anna Kielbasinska consistently runs 60's, 100's and 200's every year so not a truly good comparison.
I think SML performance was fine. One race, first race ever. I wouldn't be surprised if she decided to run it again in 2-3 weeks, she ran 7.1x.
