There seems to be such a polarization these days that people can't grasp that two things can be true at the same time.

An abuser is wrong if they abuse somebody.

Also

You can/might be foolish if you put yourself in a situation to be abused as an adult.


We (as many people do) teach our daughters things such as "nothing good happens after midnight" or "don't go hiking alone" for example.

If they find themselves in trouble due to ignoring this advice that doesn't absolve the evils aholes who did it, but the girls would be somewhat complicit in their troubles as well due to foolish choices.


I should be able to walk the streets of Juarez at night unmolested, but I'd be a darn fool to try.

I can't imagine ever going to sleep before midnight, or not hiking alone.

That would remove a huge chunk of some of my best experiences.

Perhaps because her coach told her to come to that room to prepare for her race? Geez.... could you mansplain a different reason so he's not 100% responsible for his actions?
