Can one of you tech boffins come up with an accurate way to measure the discus?

I don't think measuring is the problem; finding the right spot it 'landed' is. GPS network in the rim of the disc!

It turns out that Karissa Schweizer and Courtney Frerichs aren’t actually racing, they’re just pacing for Elise Cranny. Likely attempting to get the worlds standard for Cranny

Perhaps the tech used in tennis (electrinic line judge technology) could be adapated to the shot, discus and hammer? It would also eliminate having anyone standing in the landing area and would also determine sector fouls.

Looks like L Young got the HS 5k record.

The atmosphere in stadium was pretty electric for Young. I think most of the people there were there for him

Yep, as with all throws and horizontal jumps, we can already measure guesstimates with extreme accuracy.

I might selfishly wish Young were up here at the state meet, but obviously this was the right choice for him.

What a victory for Camryn Rogers in the hammer, getting her NR (257-11/78.62m), moving to # 5 all-time and defeating Price and Andersen. Looking forward to their hoped-for showdown again at Worlds (and any other times they may clash).
