What to do with Geb. Does he get the nod. He loses at the worlds (not by much, but a loss none the less).

But, then he shows he still is an uber stud with a sub-26:30 in Brussels.

He's an obvious sentimental choice. But will that and his great Brussels race overcome his loss to Bekele.

Hasn't he lost twice to Bekele (Hengelo?)

No way you can rank Geb over Bekele. Bekele won the big meet and beat Geb twice. Even if Geb had set the WR, Bekele would still get the nod.

I'd have to agree. But 26:29 is pretty darn impressive!

Even if Geb had won Hengelo over Bekele then added this race, the Bekele race at WC might well serve to get him No. 1.

            Men's 10k rankings

I has to be about head-to-head ... and the more important meets have to weigh heavily ... T&F News does it right.

Well, thanks for the vote of confidence: we try to get it right at least!

You're spot-on in noting that head-to-head is what really counts (and doing it in championship meets, not set-up races). Kemboi is only a second behind Geb, but he was 6th at Hengelo, beats no high WC finishers in Brussels. He may well end up with not much of a ranking at all.
