Rupp was simply trying to get the regional qualifying standard this race and did. He smartly (given his new diagnosis) ran off the pace and was never anywhere near the lead. In an odd way it was refreshing to see him run this way and acheive his goal rather than the past two races where he had challanged for the lead and then faded badly.

Metivier was going to rabbit the 5000 for Marla only a few minutes after her 1500.

She rabbited Marla for 5 1/2 laps, doing a very good job of hitting 73 second laps.
