      Pre press release:

      <<Sha’Carri Richardson declared, “I’m not back. I’m better.” following her 100-meter win at the 2023 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships in July at Hayward Field. She followed her national title by taking home gold at the 2023 World Athletics Championships Budapest23 in both the 100-meter and 4x100-meter relay, and bronze in the 200-meters. The two-time World Champion intends on keeping that promise at this year’s Prefontaine Classic women’s 100-meter. >>

        I realize it's been a too-long season, but would have thought the Molls would have loved to show up too. UW is 4.5 hr drive?

          they can show up all they want but they aren't getting in the meet. Neither earned any DL qualification points (which is especially hard to do if you never compete in a DL meet. Q's:

            Yes, Sir.

            Top 8 or 10 should be able to win the big DL prize after the final IMO. I can also see no problem to let 10 runners in 800 or15 in 5000m (Klecker and Fisher would get in). There must be a place or two for World Leader/s of each event or the world champion/s.

              I wonder if WA should extend Wild Cards for future Worlds to all DL Finalists, not just winners. It would encourage the very cream of the crop to compete more, especially American athletes who otherwise have to navigate challenging Trials.

                And have them all sit out DL meets that year since they already qualified. And more Americans sitting out of the Trials? Sounds like a loser.

                  If the DL was run like in 2019 with the final being a qualifier for the World Champs that same year, then it would work fine.

                      Noted that the NBC broadcast on Sunday starts at 1 PM PDT, which means that the M 800, a couple of para events and the W 5000 will already be over when it starts. This probably means that NBC viewers will see about the last 50 meters of the race. Peacock, however, shows noon starts for both days, so Peacock viewers will get to see some of the race as it unfolds, broken up, of course, by commercial breaks and field-event attempts.
                      No cheer,
                      Alan Shank

                        There should be no wildcards for a DL final. Not locals who live just around the corner, not world-leaders, not world champions. not world record-holders.

                        Only those who have earned the right via DL-points this season.

                          Meet is only obligated to take top 8. Folks drop out anything goes to replace them.

                            Yes. 9th & 10th in DL standings should be taken to the final as reserves.

                            I think last year's World Champion and this year's WC silver winner Eleanor Patterson - who was injured for most of this year - is just out of top 8. But local organisers can say 'stuff her - let;s put in some Murrican kid.;

                              Yes, I totally agree. You should have to put in the hard yards in the DL meetings.
