This is ridiculous. All but 2 women in the steeplechase wearing the same uniform. The Diamond League needs to crack down on that crap.

If Coe wants to improve presentation of track & field, ending the "everybody in the same uniform" problem would be an easy place to start.

Have hated this for many many years. If Nike (etc) insists its' athletes wear the '2023 strip' surely they can offer a variety of colours. They do this in tennis (at least the elite seem to get some choice) and other sports - why not athletics?

Maybe some variation of what the Tour de France does would help: Diamond League points leader coming in has a special jersey, in WC/OG Years, special tops for the 3 medalists?

Nike could easily do a variation of its design in different colors for each nation (though that still leaves 5 Ethiopians in the women's 5000 dressed alike, but it's better than 10 women in the 1500 wearing basically the same thing).

Seems to me the Puma folks are also similarly attired.

Nike (or whoever) seem to have no probs doing various versions of red/white/blue (US/UK/France) or Green/Gold (AUS/JAM/RSA) in an Olympics/WC so why is it so hard for the circuit?

I was groggy at 4 a m. where I live, turned on Pre and thought I was still asleep, having a dream that Australia was now the dominant force in TandF....

You interviewed the whole crowd at the meet? And everyone there could easily identify everyone in every race??

                    Ok then...

Apparently it was done intentionally as a "go Ducks" thing.

Those who didn't care about the monolithic uniforms in that race are those who didn't care about the race.

Pity the athletes didn't have their names on their bibs... that would have been a huge help.

I went to my kid’s soccer game today and he and all of his teammates were dressed exactly the same. It was really weird. And they aren’t even sponsored by Nike!

it was kind of tricky at first to tell them apart, especially since the numbers are mostly visible on the backs of their jerseys, but luckily, some of the kids have different hair, different heights, builds, complexions, and even differing techniques, gates, and mannerisms.

I’m not against fighting for more individualized uniforms though. How much money do you think we can raise together to sponsor an elite athlete? I’ll pledge $50 toward the effort assuming we get enough interest from the commenters here.
