  • # of Steps Gatlin took during his WR Run

Does anybody know how many strides Gatlin took
    during his 9.76 WR run?

    My data:
    AP 9.77 took 44
    Tim 9.78 took 47
    Maurice took 45
    Lewis took 43
    Donovan B took 44
    Leroy took 43
    Ben J 46

I have collected data on 8 or more sprinters who posted times under 9.90
    and they avg 44.5-43 steps.

If anybody counted Justin's steps plez let me know so I can add it to my list.

    Thanks

Go to wcsn.com, click on "Watch Gatlin's World Record", and count them. Just count one leg if it's easier.

Very interesting statistics. Note that TM and BJ took the most strides.

Now get the height for these sprinters and do a regression and you will find that each 10 cm of height correlates with to another stride.

Montgomery did 49 not 47steps. Gatlin did 41 and a half, Fasuba 45 and a half.

With that very interesting tidbit, it would now be interesting to see a comparison of how long each's feet stay on the ground on average (with each foot-strike).
