I have no idea about Gateshead, but if they were smart, after ponying up the big bucks they did (whatever they are) to get the matchup, they'd be nuts not to have put a no-previous-comp rider into the contract. Recall that it was said earlier than Powell was going to run the 200 at Pre.

Being a U.S. meet, unlikely Pre could come up with the bucks to fund such a summit meeting anyway (at least not without compromising the rest of the meet).

why not? this sort of defeatist attitude does not help at all. this is probably one of the hottest rivalries in years. its an easy story to tell and market in the u.s. and nbc (or whoever is broadcasting pre ) can hype it up to get viewers glued to the tv.

it just takes a little bit of faith and smart marketing!!!
