Is the Franco Arese appearing in the photo accompanying the Andrew Howe story the former 1500 runner once (optimistically) described as the "Herb Elliott of Italy"? I saw him run at Compton, I think, way back in the '60's.

He was Francesco back in the day, but I suspect that's him at age 62. The hair (some new, some missing) makes it tough to tell. He was a long and lean 1.83/70 (6-0/154) back in the day. Howe (next to him) is 1.84 (6-1/2) so that guy's also the right height.
